Safe Color Hex Codes
This 216 Safe Color Palette is a recommended set of hex color codes to be used as the palette for HTML pages. It is the same hex values
that comprise the palette used by used by Netscape, Internet Explorer and Mosaic.
The "Web Safe Color Palette" is a hybrid palette, comprised of 216 hex color values, out of a possible 256 colors. The remaining
forty (40) colors are unstable, when used between desparate operating systems. The colors differ and vary in appearance, when used
between PC and Mac platforms. By eliminating the forty unstable color values, the palatte is optimized for cross-platform use.
A Web Safe Color Palette
By placing the mouse cursor over a particular color, the corresponding hex code will
appear in a popup window. This will work for Netscape and Internet Explorer. If another, or older browser
is used, the hex code should appear in the status bar at the bottom of the browser.
